A new wave of over-concentration of AADE services instead of strengthening the insufficient staff, fear the tax officials who went on yesterday, for the first time following many years, in a 24-hour sectoral strike.
The strike was also attended by the Association of Workers at the Secondary Schools of Achaia-Ilia-Kefallini-Zakynthos, whose president, Andreas Terzis, spoke to Peloponnisos FM 104.1 regarding the demanding framework in which the main demand is the recruitment of staff to deal with the huge vacancies which have resulted from departures due to retirements.
At the moment, the Tax Office of Patras, like all the State Tax Authorities of Western Greece, is operating with 50% of the human resources provided for in the organizational chart, Mr. Terzis said, with the result that employees are working overtime and even without pay.
“Almost daily overtime to answer the tens of thousands of electronic requests or not to delay tax cases and unpaid work at home in the evenings and on weekends, in a period of uncontrollable punctuality, cannot and will not be allowed to become a new normal, just as the marginal situation in which our services have fallen, under the responsibility of the political leaders, will not be allowed to be a pretext for the involvement of private individuals,” said Mr. Terzis.
The president of the tax officials also emphasized that the digital modernization of the Tax Offices may have solved the problem with the endless queues at the Tax Offices, but it put a much greater burden on the employees who struggle every day to respond to the tens of thousands of electronic requests.
“Citizens were expelled from the Tax Offices, but this led to thousands of electronic requests, which many times can cause more inconvenience and delays,” said Mr. Terzis. The most worrying thing, however, is that AADE is oriented towards expanding the over-concentration of financial services, as happened in Athens and Thessaloniki. Mr. Terzis did not hide his concern regarding the possibility of moving from a DOU for the whole of Achaia to a DOU for wider areas of the region.
In their plans is to restore at some point the regional control center, which had been taken over by many prefectures, and they are planning something similar now, said Mr. Terzis.
