The scandal of the alleged dossiers, instead of vanishing into thin air like a soap bubble, continues to grow day by day, giving off an increasingly acrid smell. Evidence emerges that indicates not only the alleged system orchestrated by Finance Lieutenant Pasquale Striano to collect and sell confidential information, such as Reports of Suspicious Operations (SOS), but also the existence of a possible clandestine network known as the Fiore team. The latter, described as a sort of Specter – as the newspaper defines it – made up of ex-military personnel, disloyal employees of ministries and Palazzo Chigi, and external consultants, appears to have been coordinated through sophisticated means and encrypted communications.
As reported by Fabrizio Gatti, director of Today.it, the investigation reveals an organization operating with code names and encrypted chats managed by a French intelligence company based in Rome. These individuals would have had access to tools such as cars with blue flashing lights and ministerial shovels to spy on the financial and personal movements of political and non-political figures, then selling this information, even abroad, at considerable prices. The testimonies of some anonymous informants seem to confirm the seriousness of the ongoing illicit activities. Journalistic investigators gained access to unique SOS codes and other confidential information, which might easily be verified by the relevant authorities.
The implications of this other scandal – Striano would not be part of it – are enormous, potentially undermining national security and putting important financial transactions and investments at risk. The call for a serious and comprehensive investigation seems to be inevitable to shed light on this dark web of illicit activities.
