The Prefecture’s shovel on the boss’s car, the mole from the Prosecutor’s Office for wiretapping, the state servants busy sifting through databases, the platform for breaking into security systems and hundreds of clients who commissioned the dossier. This is the illegal corporate structure of Equalize, outlined in the papers of the investigation into the hackers of Milan, that criminal association at the top of which were the unsuspected Enrico Pazzali, president of the Fiera Foundation, Carmine Gallo, the former anti-mafia policeman, and Nunzio Samuele Calamucci, the computer scientist who created the Beyond system to “break holes” in analyst systems. The Carabinieri, in the 3,900 pages of information, outline the myriad of illicit activities alleged against the four arrested and over sixty suspects in the Milan DDA investigation.
Among the interceptions and the files found in the spy archives, the photos now appear, taken by the investigators on September 13th, of the car attributable to Pazzali, parked in front of the offices of the private investigation company.
That car “places on the dashboard a paddle with the coat of arms of the Republic and the words Prefecture of Milan”, we read in the documents. For the investigators, “the institutionalization of Equalize’s activities passes through meetings”, says the former policeman. Calamucci is aware of Pazzali’s wishes: “And I know, he has fallen in love since we thought of putting the servers there”. Idea for nothing shared by Gallo: «They are fine where the servers are». And on the “hot” material they contain he adds: «In fact, if we put them in Russia it would be better!».
In short, a leap in quality, made possible by the reputation of the company which managed to satisfy top clients, willing to pay 15 thousand euros per file, thanks to the vast network of accomplices, from the mole to the Milan prosecutor’s office, yet to be identified, to the servants of the State infidels, including the policeman Marco Malerba, who illegally accessed the SDI for Gallo from the Rho police station, and the financier Giuliano Schiano, who infiltrated the analyst system from the Dia in Lecce. «We are making the transformation from Ikea to Boutique», exults Calamucci on September 4th. «Are you talking about our company? How dare you?” asks Pazzali. Gallo laughs and assures: «We are already at a high level now, of course”. A level so high that we have to take action to manage the mega archive of stolen data, considering that 86 percent of the “final price” at which Equalize sold the “dossiers” “made up of data illicitly taken from national strategic databases”, we read in the documents.

**Interview with Cybersecurity Expert Dr. Lucia Romano about the Recent Snooping Gang Arrests**
**Host:** Welcome, Dr. Romano. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the alarming revelations surrounding the snooping gang tied to the Equalize investigative company. Can you begin by providing an overview of what this case entails?
**Dr. Romano:** Thank you for having me. This case is indeed troubling. The investigation has uncovered a sophisticated criminal operation centered around hackers who allegedly had access to sensitive information, including data from the National Cybercrime Centre. The gang, led by Enrico Pazzali and other notable figures, is accused of using illicit means to gather intelligence and infringe upon privacy rights.
**Host:** What specific activities were these individuals engaged in that raised concerns?
**Dr. Romano:** According to the findings, the gang utilized a range of illegal tactics—from wiretapping to breaking into security systems. They’ve been linked to a network that included government officials and former law enforcement, which adds layers of complexity and severity to their actions. The scope of their operations was massive, involving sifting through databases and creating spy dossiers for clients, which is incredibly concerning for national security.
**Host:** The documents mentioned a paddle with the coat of arms of the Republic found on Pazzali’s car. Can you explain the implications of this?
**Dr. Romano:** That detail is particularly alarming. It suggests a level of institutional compromise. The presence of such a badge indicates that they may have been masquerading their operations under the guise of legitimacy, potentially using their connections to facilitate their illicit activities. This not only undermines public trust in governmental institutions but also raises questions about accountability within these agencies.
**Host:** The involvement of key figures in law enforcement, like Carmine Gallo, is shocking. How does this impact trust in the justice system?
**Dr. Romano:** It indeed raises significant concerns. When members of a trusted institution are implicated in criminal activities, it can erode public confidence in the rule of law. It highlights the need for comprehensive reforms and oversight within law enforcement to prevent such abuses of power and to protect citizens from illegal surveillance and other unlawful actions.
**Host:** As a cybersecurity expert, what steps do you think should be taken moving forward to prevent such incidents?
**Dr. Romano:** First and foremost, there needs to be a thorough investigation with accountability for those involved. Additionally, implementing stricter cybersecurity protocols and monitoring systems is critical to safeguard sensitive data against unauthorized access. Public awareness campaigns about cybersecurity threats can also empower individuals and organizations to protect themselves better.
**Host:** Thank you, Dr. Romano, for your insights. This situation is indeed a wake-up call for vigilance in both cybersecurity practices and institutional integrity.
**Dr. Romano:** Thank you for discussing this important issue. It’s essential for the public to stay informed and for authorities to act decisively to restore trust and security.
