KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A round of missiles and drones fired overnight Saturday into Sunday killed two people, including a four-year-old boy, in a Kiev region.

The bodies of a 35-year-old man and his son were found in the rubble after missile fragments fell on a residential area in the Brovari district on the outskirts of Kiev, according to the state emergency service. Three other people were injured in the attack.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev Military Administration, said this was the second attack in Kiev this month.

Popko said the ballistic missiles did not reach the capital, but suburbs were hit and a drone heading for the capital was shot down.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that 35 drones were shot down over the Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk and Orel regions overnight.

Acting Governor Alexey Smirnov said on Telegram that a Ukrainian missile shot down by a Russian air defense system landed on a residential building in Kursk at night, injuring 13 people.

Ukraine has not commented on the attacks in Russia but has increased attacks on Russian territory in recent weeks.
