Borussia Dortmund’s director of football, Sebastian Kale, has criticized the size of Chelsea’s spending in the winter transfer market, which saw Chelsea conclude a record-breaking deal in Britain to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.
“We must say that it is very wild. Of course I have been following Chelsea in the past weeks and months,” Kale said in statements to the German “Sky Sport” channel.
Midfielder Fernandez signed a contract with Chelsea that runs until 2031, and the English club paid 106.8 million pounds ($131.4 million) to sign the player who won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the Argentine national team.
“Money is not an issue there,” Keel said. “We simply have to make our money here in a different way, so we’re not in a position to do deals like that.”
