Dorset – The court sentenced the 66-year-old son to 12 years in the case of raping a nurse who came home to care for his elderly mother in the UK. On July 7, 2022, Gary John Bridger raped a visiting nurse at his home in Dorset. The nurse had come to check whether it was safe to bring the elderly mother home from the hospital.
Bournemouth Crown Court heard that the nurse was physically assaulted by being restrained and not allowed to go back following the examination was completed. Prosecutor Jamma White told the court that Bridger forced his victim into a bedroom where he brutally assaulted her.
She stated that Bridger took a shower following the crime and changed the bed sheets to cover up what happened. The prosecutor argued in court that the accused carried out the crime with proper planning. The prosecutor also stated that the victim nurse was not able to participate in social events and expressed discomfort for several months. The court sentenced the accused to 12 years following it became clear in the court that the accused had committed the crime.
