The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed the appointment of his compatriot Dorival Junior as the new coach of his country’s national team, officially ending the controversy over who takes responsibility for the fate of the five-time world champion.
The Brazilian Federation said in a press statement announcing the presentation of the former Sao Paulo coach in Rio de Janeiro: “Dorival Junior is the new coach of the Brazilian men’s national team.”
The Brazilian Federation did not reveal the duration of the contract, but local media indicated that it would continue until the end of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The formalization of the appointment of Dorival Junior, to succeed Fernando Diniz, who was “dismissed” from his position last week, was expected following the Sao Paulo club announced the departure of its coach since last April to join the national team’s technical management.
