SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MEP candidate Dora (Theodora) Avgeri toured Patras and Aigio yesterday, as part of her pre-election tour that started from Achaia. Mrs. Avgeri said she was optimistic regarding the June election result.
“I bring a message of optimism and victory from our president, Stefanos Kasselakis. We are plowing all of Greece and every corner of the Greek region, precisely to create terms and conditions for a major upheaval on June 9.
The message from every corner is the great expectation and anticipation of the world for change, because it can’t take it anymore. The world groans from poverty and from precision. The salary is not enough even for the first week of the month. These are things that we don’t tell ourselves, but the day laborers tell us, and now the measurements tell us too.
We used to say that numbers prosper and people suffer. Now the numbers bear witness to the suffering of Greek households”.
Mrs. Augeri also spoke of a “regime of lack of freedom and lack of democracy” which, as she said, is recorded by the measurements, the reports, the publications of the foreign press and the State Department.
“All this, of course, does not undermine the status of Mr. Mitsotakis, they simply reflect what the Greek woman and the Greek citizen lives in his daily life. But that will change, and I think the outcome of the June 9 election will set the stage for political change. To get rid of this regime which in the last five years has caused a lot of damage to both the economic and social fabric of the country. And most of all it has caused great damage to our youth. Young people because of this situation are disgusted with politics and the political system and because of these policies Mr. Mitsotakis feeds the egg of the snake and the extreme right. And the only obstacle to this is SYRIZA-PS and the forces of the center-left”.
