Marsquake or Erosion Responsible?
A “door” on Mars? What this Nasa image is all about
Is that about one Door there in a rock on Mars? At first glance, one might think that this is exactly what is being seen in images currently sent to Earth by the Curiosity rover. However, the phenomenon most likely does not hide a secret alien settlement on the red planet. But how else can this special formation be explained?

The door-like opening may be the result of natural stress that has caused parts of the rock to break off, writes the science magazine “Science Alert”. Additionally, a marsquake or two could have caused the peculiar shape. Such an earthquake was only recently measured on Mars. “It’s the strongest tremor ever measured on any other planet,” said NASA a few days ago.
It doesn’t need a Marsquake
Other geologists disagree to “Live Science” the marsquake theory. “It looks like natural erosion to me,” British geologist Neil Hodgson told Science Magazine. The whole mountain was broken anyway. It doesn’t need a marsquake for such fractures to occur, said the French geologist Nicholas Mangold. Temperature fluctuations could also play a role.
