Don’t Starve Together, a multiplayer game that challenges players to survive in Maxwell’s dark, painted world, is coming to Nintendo Switch soon.
If you’ve played Don’t Starve before, you’ll feel right at home playing on your pocket console: the project uses a delightfully dark survival sim concept where you wake up in a vast world and must build, eat, and mine to survive.
Three different modes will be available to you on Switch: Survival (in which players become reanimated ghosts following death), Wilderness without resurrection, and a more leisurely Endless Mode with elements from the Hamlet and Shipwrecked expansions.
The bleak co-op world of Don’t Starve Together will also feature a new shared unlock feature that will allow players to unlock skins, characters, plant roster, and recipes simultaneously on Xbox, Switch, or PC. No matter where the item was unlocked, it will be usable on any platform.
Unfortunately, generic unlocks will not initially be available to PlayStation users, and the developer explained this is because the requirements for PS are quite serious for such a small studio.
Klei also emphasizes that unlocking is only regarding items, not crossplay. Although the team plans to work on multi-account features in the future, it’s too complicated for them right now.
The grim survival game Don’t Starve Together will be released on the Nintendo handheld console on April 12th.
