“Although the SPÖ only opened the door a finger’s breadth, 9,000 people streamed in,” says Paul Stich. The chairman of the Socialist Youth Austria (SJ) is convinced that there are many young people among the new members. If they had a chance to participate, as is the case with the election of the party leadership, then they would seize it. “Young people want to be involved. You have to allow that,” says Stich.
