Donny Roelvink has officially converted to Islam. He confirmed this to RTL Boulevard on Friday. Rapper Josylvio, among others, shared a video on social media on Friday showing the model pronouncing the Islamic confession of faith Shahada.
Roelvink previously reported on Instagram that he is in Dubai. The model briefly confirmed to Boulevard on Friday that he had indeed converted. “I’m still learning this myself, so I don’t want to comment on this in the media,” he says.
Dries Roelvink’s son previously reported that, like his brother Dave, he was very interested in Islam. The accident in which he was run over by a Hummer contributed to the feeling that there must be “something higher”. Roelvink made his statements in the YouTube series RealTalks by FunX DJ Fernando Halman.
Collapsed lung and ribs
Donny was injured while shooting a fitness video with friends. He was run over by a Hummer. He ended up in hospital with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. The model had to recover for weeks.
Roelvink is currently unavailable for comment. When asked, his father Dries said that his son “can better explain what he believes or does not believe.”
