(Seogwipo = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwon Hoon = Maeng Dong-seop (35), who won the Korean Tour three times in the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA), injured his ring finger ligament in his left hand in May of last year.

It wasn’t an accident, and I felt pain while practicing, and when I went to the hospital, it was diagnosed that the rental was damaged.

After hearing that he would have to rest for several years following surgery, Maeng Dong-seop chose to rest and wait for the ligaments to recover.

After taking sick leave, he returned from tour at the KB Financial Live Championship, which ended on the 30th of last month.

He had been away from the field for over a year and saw the bitter taste of losing the cut.

Maeng Dong-seop said, “The past year has been difficult. In 2020, I injured my left thumb and took a break for a while, so I lamented the injury gap for two consecutive years.”

Maeng Dong-seop, who got married following the 2019 season and started a family, was not in a lot of trouble.

“It was a year that deeply felt how precious golf was to me,” he said, even crying.

In the third round of the SK Telecom Open (total prize of 1.3 billion won) held at the Pinx Golf Club in Seogwipo, Jeju (par 71) on the 4th, Maeng Dong-seop shot a 4-under 67 and took the lead (11-under 202 shots) with Bio Kim (32).

Maeng Dong-seop, who predicted a revival by taking the lead by 3 strokes tied for 5th in the second round, is looking forward to his 4th win in four years following winning the KB Financial Live Championship in 2018.

He lost the cut at the KB Financial Live Championship, which was his first comeback game in over a year, but the shot wasn’t bad, he said. .

Bio Kim, who was eliminated from the cut at the KB Financial Live Championship, said, “I was able to play a good game because I had a sense of putting.” He said, “I’m used to the Jeju wind. I will prepare well for the final round.”

After winning the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in 2012, Bio Kim climbed to the top of the SK Telecom Open held at Pinx Golf Club.

Kim Bio was eligible to participate in the Asian Professional Golf Tour Live International, which was held during the same period as this tournament, but said, “I thought it was right to participate in this tournament in the long run.”
