The 40th Danube Island Festival is in the starting blocks – as is the Rock The Island Contest, which is taking place for the first time this year in cooperation with Hitradio Ö3. The young talent competition enables young artists and bands to secure one of three coveted performances on the main stage of the Danube Island Festival, each endowed with a fee of 1,500 euros. The registration period starts today and ends on March 31, 2023.

Women are still underrepresented in all areas of the music business – we are doing something regarding it. With the Rock The Island Contest, we start with the next generation and are happy to help female acts to advance their careers. In addition, the Donauinselfest is clearly committed to gender equality on and behind the stages.“
Three free slots on the largest stage of the Donauinselfest
Registration for the Rock The Island Contest possible for young artists from all over Austria. After the registration period has expired, a specialist jury will decide who will receive one of the coveted performances at this year’s Danube Island Festival. The winners can then look forward to a performance in front of what is probably the most colorful audience in Vienna and will be fairly rewarded with a fee of 1,500 euros. The winners will be announced at the end of April.
Registration and participation requirements
The requirements for participation are a minimum age of 16 years, a main residence in Austria and the sending of a live performance or live video. Registration is via www.donauinselfest.at/rock-the-island-contest.
