A little over a year after his banishment from Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, Donald Trump is back with Truth Social, the mobile application of his own social network, which everyone is talking about in the United States. It was this Monday, February 21 that the former American president planned to launch it on the Apple App Store, according to the statements of the network’s product manager, a certain Billy B, intercepted by Archyde.com, while that he was answering questions asked by testers of this “app”.

That Donald Trump has chosen to baptize his social network “Truth” (the truth) is not surprising on the part of the one who popularized the expression “fake news” during his tenure in the White House, the clinging to the media that didn’t go his way. He himself has regularly been accused of spreading false news… Until he even became the main source of disinformation on Covid-19, a title awarded in 2020 by researchers from Cornell University, authors of a study on the topic.

Obviously, Thruth Social would have similar functionality to the Twitter social network. It should offer the possibility of sending direct messages between users; receive notifications when other people post; or to block certain users. It could also make it possible to modify a publication after having made it public.

Donald Trump was ousted from social media the day after the attack on the Capitol in the United States after being accused of making messages inciting violence. He later founded Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind Thruth Social, which he turned over to former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes to lead.

It is expected to merge with DWAC (Digital World Acquisition Cord), a listed company in the form of SPAC. The new entity claimed to be able to invest up to 1.25 billion dollars to finance its projects. So far, however, none of the social networks that have sought to compete with Twitter have managed to win, be it Gettr, Parler or the video site Rumble.
