The father of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the perpetrator of the shooting of Donald Trump, had contacted the police before the incident occurred in Pennsylvania, Saturday (13/7). The parents reported their son missing without any news.
The call was one of a number of warning signs that law enforcement officials had uncovered before the shooting at the former US president’s rally took place.
Law enforcement, particularly the U.S. Secret Service, has faced questions regarding its security practices, with some lawmakers calling for the agency’s chief to resign.
“Matthew Crooks’ father called police because he was concerned regarding his son’s whereregardings,” a law enforcement source told the news partner. BBC, CBS.
It’s unclear when the call was made, but it occurred before the shooting. It’s unclear what the father told police. Fox News reported that Crooks’ parents, Mary and Matthew, told officers they were concerned regarding their son because he had disappeared without a word.
Law enforcement sources told US media that Crooks had conducted online searches regarding major depressive disorder and the Democratic National Convention scheduled for August.

He has also stored images of Trump, President Joe Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Chris Wray and members of the British Royal Family, according to reports from Washington Post.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for Crooks, 20, who was shot and killed by a U.S. Secret Service agent following opening fire, killing one bystander and injuring several others, including Trump’s upper ear.
An initial investigation found that Crooks climbed onto the roof of a building near the campaign site by climbing onto an air conditioning unit next to the building.

Local police initially spotted Crooks acting suspiciously and carrying a backpack regarding an hour before the shooting. They lost him in the crowd, but he was spotted once more by a sniper.
Officers were notified by radio of a suspicious person and immediately went to the area where Crooks had his rifle on the roof. Finding no one, an officer decided to check the roof.
The officer was lifted onto the roof by a colleague and confronted Crooks. He then pointed the gun at the officer, who was in a “defenseless position” and eventually fell to the ground. Moments later, a burst of gunfire erupted in Trump’s direction. (BBC/P-5)
