Former US President Donald Trump compared the conflict between Israel and Iran to two children fighting in the schoolyard. He said events like Iran’s rocket attack on Israel on Tuesday should never happen and that the United States would be deeply involved in the Middle East.
“It’s really bad, but they have to go through that process. Think of it like two kids fighting in the schoolyard. Sometimes you have to let it go a little bit and we’ll see what happens,” the Republican presidential candidate said.
He added, “But it’s a terrible, terrible war. And then you see what’s happening today. You know, where is it going to stop? You look at these forces. They fired about 200 rockets today. But this is not the way anyone should live, and it would never have happened in the Middle East.
Tehran fired nearly 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday in response to the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. Most of the missiles were intercepted and destroyed by Israel with the help of the US military and other agencies.
Shortly after the attack, Trump criticized US President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, referring to the situation as “very close to a global disaster”.
