“Don Quixote”: The romance of romances at the Patras International Festival – 2024-07-21 09:56:41

“Don Quixote”, the most loved funny romance of all time is hosted at 9.30 on the evening of Sunday 21st July at the International Festival.

The show is directed by Yannis Bezos with Vladimiros Kyriakides in the role of Don Quixote and is an ode to dreams and at the same time a question regarding how necessary it is for us to dream and whether the habit of banality gives us an illusion of happiness.

On the stage of the Municipal Summer Theater of Ritsou Street, the story of the dreamy Knight Don Quixote from Mancha, his companion Sancho Pancha and his beloved Dulcinea will unfold, brought back to life by a large troupe.

Yannis Bezos in his director’s note emphasizes that “Cervantes’ satirical romance reminds us of man’s great need for what goes beyond him! And when our hero testifies to his sensitivity and his great imagination, the others scoff and laugh. And yet, so it is! Fantasy and poetry, to pass, must pay a toll! Sometimes very expensive.”
