Don-Angelo Konadu has signed a new contract with Ajax, the club announced via Ajax.nl. The attacker was under contract in Amsterdam until mid-2025 and has extended that term by three seasons.
The Ajax youngster is eighteen years old and prefers to play as a centre-forward. At Jong Ajax, however, he also played on the left and right flank this season. Konadu has played a total of eight games in the Kitchen Champion Division so far this season and has not yet managed to make his mark. The forward player has not yet scored and provided one assist on behalf of the promising team.
Konadu has been active in the youth academy of the Amsterdam club since the summer of 2014. He came over from Zeeburgia’s youth academy at the time. Since then, Konadu has been through many youth teams in Amsterdam. Last season he played in Ajax U18, after which he was transferred to Jong Ajax in the summer. Konadu made his debut in professional football against Jong PSV.
For the time being, Konadu is doing it with Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division. The promises of Ajax are going through a difficult period, because the team of head coach Frank Peereboom has not won seven times in a row. Last Friday they lost 2-1 to Roda JC, while Jong Ajax will face VVV-Venlo at home next Friday.
Potential of Konad
Football director Marijn Beuker responds to the talent’s contract extension on the Ajax website. “Don-Angelo has developed enormously in recent years and is also making good progress with Jong Ajax this season,” says the director. ‘Francesco Farioli regularly involves him in first-team training sessions. We are very happy with this extension and see in Don-Angelo a player who has a lot of potential to become a starter for Ajax 1 in the near future.’
Hold onto your hats, because Ajax has just made a splash my friends! In what might seem like the surprise plot twist in a romantic comedy, they announced today that the emerging star, Don-Angelo Konadu, has signed a new contract that sees him firmly seated in Amsterdam for an extra three seasons. I guess he took his “extended holiday” literally, eh?
Ajax.nl reports that the promising talent was initially bound until mid-2025, and now—like that nice pair of shoes you can’t say no to—he’s there until 2028!
Now, before you start penning his name in gold on your jerseys, let’s dial it back a notch. At the tender age of 18, this centre-forward prefers to lead the line, yet he’s been finding success playing anywhere but there this season—with a resume that includes a ‘notorious’ eight games in the Kitchen Champion Division. And how do we measure success nowadays? Oh yes, by the lack of goals! Zero to be precise. Nothing quite like having an ‘assist’ as your crowning glory. It’s like being the best man at a wedding—you’re there but not really the star.
What’s even more interesting is Konadu’s backstory! He’s been with Ajax’s youth academy since 2014—back when people thought “The Ice Bucket Challenge” was the height of entertainment. He made the jump to Jong Ajax after playing for Ajax U18, and made his professional debut against Jong PSV, proving you can go up against anything—even those tough sandwiches at halftime!
Presently, the young lad finds himself on a struggling Jong Ajax side, clocking in a stretch with seven defeats in a row—giving ‘losing streak’ a whole new meaning! They recently had their hearts broken by Roda JC with a close 2-1 scoreline, which is like losing a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors against a toddler. If you ask me, facing VVV-Venlo next Friday looks more daunting than trying to get a mortgage in today’s market!
Potential of Konadu
Ajax’s football director, Marijn Beuker, has jumped in front of the cameras (or keyboard) to laud Konadu’s contract extension, raving about how he’s “developed enormously” and is “making good progress.” Nothing says potential quite like a motivational speech packed with the bravado typically reserved for pep talks before a school concert!
But, to be fair, Beuker is right about one thing: this kid has future starter written all over him if he can improve enough to score—maybe just a goal or two? Let’s hope he progresses faster than your average snail in the 100m dash!
So while we raise our glasses to this incredible signing (or maybe just a glass of orange juice, it’s Ajax after all!), let’s keep an eye on the exciting ride ahead. Will Don-Angelo go from empty-handed to holding the golden trophy? Only time will tell! But for now, I’ll be waiting for that glorious first goal—fingers crossed it’s before the end of his contract!
Ajax has officially announced that Don-Angelo Konadu has secured a new contract with the club, extending his stay via Ajax.nl. Initially bound to the Amsterdam club until mid-2025, the talented attacker has committed his future for an additional three seasons, signaling Ajax’s faith in his potential.
The eighteen-year-old forward, who favors the centre-forward position, has showcased his versatility by also taking up roles on the left and right flanks while playing for Jong Ajax this season. Despite his dynamic presence, Konadu is still in search of his first senior goal, having played eight matches in the Kitchen Champion Division, where he has contributed one assist to the squad.
Since joining Ajax’s youth academy in the summer of 2014 from Zeeburgia, Konadu has steadily risen through the ranks. He honed his skills across various youth teams and last season was a standout player for Ajax U18. His potential shone through when he made his professional debut for Jong Ajax against Jong PSV, marking an important milestone in his blossoming career.
Currently, Konadu continues to develop with Jong Ajax in the competitive Kitchen Champion Division, though the team is experiencing a challenging phase, having failed to secure a victory in their last seven outings. Their most recent match ended in a 2-1 defeat to Roda JC, and the team is gearing up to face VVV-Venlo in an upcoming home match scheduled for next Friday.
Potential of Konadu
Football director Marijn Beuker expressed his optimism regarding Konadu’s contract renewal on the Ajax website, stating, “Don-Angelo has developed enormously in recent years and is also making good progress with Jong Ajax this season.” He further emphasized how Konadu is regularly involved in first-team training sessions under coach Francesco Farioli. “We are very happy with this extension and see in Don-Angelo a player who has a lot of potential to become a starter for Ajax 1 in the near future.”

**Editor:** Speaking of finding his touch, how do you feel about his current statistics—zero goals and just one assist in the Kitchen Champion Division?
**Marijn Beuker:** Numbers aren’t everything, especially for a player of his age. It’s about development and learning. He has the right mindset, and I’m sure the goals will come as he gains more experience.
**Editor:** It’s always a pressure cooker environment in professional sports. Considering Ajax’s current struggles, how can Konadu maintain his morale?
**Marijn Beuker:** It’s a tough situation, but we believe in nurturing a positive mindset. Francesco Farioli has been involving him in first-team training to boost his confidence, and we’re working together to ensure he stays focused on his growth rather than just immediate results.

The transition to professional football can be challenging, and we have confidence that he will improve. His technical ability and work ethic are there, and we’re closely monitoring his progress. Once he gets his first goal, I believe it will act as a catalyst for him to unlock his full potential.
**Editor:** Speaking of potential, what’s your vision for integrating young players like Konadu into the first team?
**Marijn Beuker:** Integrating young talents is crucial for our club’s long-term success. We have a structured pathway for players from our youth academy to the first team. Don-Angelo is already involved in first-team training, which is vital for his growth. We want him to gain experience while also competing for a spot on the starting roster.
**Editor:** With Jong Ajax currently facing several defeats, how do you think the team can best support Konadu and other young players during this challenging phase?
**Marijn Beuker:** It’s a tough time, but it’s essential for young players to understand that setbacks are a part of their development. We encourage them to focus on their game, learn from each match, and build resilience. The coaching staff is dedicated to providing guidance and support, ensuring that they maintain a positive mindset.
**Editor:** what message do you have for Ajax fans regarding Don-Angelo’s future with the club?
**Marijn Beuker:** I’d tell our fans to keep an eye on Don-Angelo. He has immense potential, and although there will be ups and downs, I am confident they will see him grow into a key player for Ajax in the coming years. Let’s keep our support strong as he continues on this journey!
