Dominique Aegerter’s Performance and Rankings in Superbike World Championship 2023

19th place in the combined time sheet from FP1 and FP2 on Friday did not correspond to Dominique Aegerter’s claim – even if he only knew the “Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari” from a few laps with the Porsche.

12th place in qualifying was a clear step forward. In the race, he was also in this position for a long time. When he overtook fellow Yamaha rider Bradley Ray, the Swiss was eleventh. In the 15th of 19 laps, Aegerter’s Yamaha started to bitch and he was passed down to 16th place, in the next lap he had to retire.

“We’ve improved our performance and gotten closer to the top drivers,” said the two-time Supersport champion. “We still have problems in the slow chicanes, but we’ve made progress. In the race I was on the limit in the first laps. Also, we were dealing with very hot conditions and the bike’s behavior was a bit different. Unfortunately, in the closing stages of the race, the clutch began to slip and I had to retire. We hope that we can improve on Sunday and finish in the top nine in the sprint race to have a better starting position for the second main race.”

In the overall standings, Aegerter is ninth following 19 races with 97 points.
