The Dominicans Geraldo Perdomo of the D-backs and Carlos Estévez of the Angels, were selected to be part of the All-Star Game, to be played next Tuesday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, as replacements.
The D-backs will have a fourth All-Star game following Perdomo was added to the roster Friday as a replacement for Cubs shortstop Dasby Swanson, who is currently sidelined with injury.
Perdomo joins teammates Corbin Carroll, Gourdes Gurriel and Zac Gallen as the other Arizona players. So far this year, Perdomo has five home runs, 33 RBIs and is hitting .274/.381/.416 in 72 games.
For his part, Estévez enters the American League roster to replace Emmanuel Clase, also from Dominican Republic, of the Guardians, who will not be able to attend for personal reasons.
Estevez is 1-2 with a 1.85 ERA in 35 appearances with Los Angeles so far this year, with 21 saves in as many chances and 42 strikeouts in 34 innings of work.
