Dominic Thiem will not compete in Winston-Salem
Setback for Dominic Thiem: The Austrian had to cancel his start in Winston-Salem a few hours before his opening game once morest Arthur Rinderknech. The reason for this is a gastrointestinal flu (gastroenteritis), as the organizers announced on their website.
Thiem would have made his first appearance in Winston-Salem since reaching the final at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel. It is still unclear what effects the cancellation will have on the US Open in New York (August 28 to September 10).
In Winston-Salem, Thiem is replaced by lucky loser Omni Kumar. The top seed of the ATP 250 event in North Carolina is the Croatian Borna Coric.
