According to the most recent statistical bulletin of the Colombian Institute of Legal Medicine, corresponding to November 2022, it is possible to determine that cases of intrafamily violence increased by 19.84% compared to the first eleven months of 2021. While last year they were reported 46,615 cases, this year at least 55,864 occurred, not counting those that have not been reported.

The bulletin classifies these incidents of domestic violence, according to who was the victim. By far, partner violence is the most reported to the authorities: 67.25% of cases of domestic violence are of this type, for a total of 37,569 cases. 9.86% of complaints referred to violence once morest children and adolescents (5,508 cases); 3.82% of aggressions were once morest older adults (2,132 cases) and 19.07% corresponded to violence once morest unspecified family members (10,655 cases).

Women were victims in 77.74% of the cases of domestic violence of all kinds. In cases of violence once morest minors, 52.65% occurred once morest girls and adolescents, while 54.7% of victims of violence once morest older adults were women. However, the percentage of victims of intimate partner violence is chilling: 86.6% of them were women.

The city that registered the highest number of complaints for intrafamily violence was Bogotá: in these eleven months, 1,1,743 cases of violence once morest children and adolescents were reported, 458 attacks once morest the elderly, 8,396 cases of violence between couples and 2,417 cases of aggressions between family members to be identified, for a total of 13,014 cases. In 2022, 23,726 people have undergone legal medical examinations for alleged cases of sexual violence once morest them. These are 3,863 more cases than in 2021, so these incidents would also be on the rise. Women are the main victims of this type of crime: 20,973 of the people examined were female, which corresponds to 88.3% of complainants.

It is also worrying that minors would be the main victims of sexual abuse, since 19,570 legal medical tests were carried out on children and adolescents under 18 years of age. This corresponds to 82.48% of the victims for this crime.

The city in which the most complaints of sexual violence were received during these first eleven months was Bogotá, with 4,722 cases. The second city was Medellín, with 843 reports, while the third was Cali, with 742 cases, and the fourth was Cartagena, with 576 complaints.

A noteworthy piece of information from the latest report is the slight reduction in interpersonal violence. Between January and November, a total of 55,864 cases were reported, 4.9% less than in the first eleven months of 2021. In any case, this is the second cause of non-fatal injuries in Colombia: it corresponds to 29.97% of the cases.
