Domestic revenues increased by 797 million dinars last year

Frankly News – Domestic revenues during 2022 amounted to 8.122 billion dinars, compared to 7.325 billion dinars in 2021, an increase of 797 million dinars.

This increase in local revenues came as a result of an increase in tax revenues by about 421 million dinars, and an increase in non-tax revenues by about 376 million dinars. The coverage of local revenues for current expenditures reached 90.7 percent, and this reflects the government’s approach to promoting financial independence.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed, in its monthly bulletin, that the increase in tax revenues is due to the increase in the general tax on goods and services by about 128.8 million dinars, to reach a value of 4.167 billion dinars during the year 2022, and the increase in income and profit tax collections, with a value of 368.6 million dinars, to reach what Its value is 1.548 billion dinars during the year 2022. This increase is due to the measures that the government committed to during the year 2022 to review the tax system, administrative and structural procedures, in the fight against tax evasion and avoidance.

On the other hand, public expenditures increased during the year 2022 by a value of 608 million dinars to reach a value of 10.466 billion dinars, or 6.2 percent, compared to the year 2021, and this increase is mainly due to the increase in current expenditures by 233.7 million dinars or what It increased by 2.7 percent, and the increase in capital expenditures by about 374 million dinars, or 32.9 percent, noting that the item of spending on social protection increased by about 184 million dinars compared to last year.

The balance of government debt amounted to 30.667 billion dinars at the end of 2022, or 88.5 percent of the estimated GDP for 2022, compared to 28.763 billion dinars, at the end of 2021, or 88.6 percent.
