After the closing, the dollar registered losses. The dollar index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar in relation to a basket of six major currencies, registered a fall of 0.87%, closing the week at 102.27 units, according to Investing.comone of the most important finance portals.
The dollar falls following the publication of economic data
The US currency fell back as new economic data was added. Meanwhile, the markets are awaiting the upcoming monetary policy decisions by the Federal Reserve.
Although the strong data shared on private payrolls supported the view that the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates soon, the June employment report indicated below-expected growth in nonfarm payrolls.
The US economy registered 209,000 new jobs last month. However, economists expected the number to rise by 225,000. On the other hand, the unemployment rate slowed slightly from 3.7% to 3.6%.
