A Dolce & Gabbana collection in the metaverse

While Paris Fashion Week is currently in full swing, fashion trends are also playing out in the online universe. As Metaverse Fashion Week 2023 takes place at the end of the month, Dolce & Gabbana has teamed up with the crypto platform UNXD to initiate a fashion competition aimed at promoting digital fashion designers.

Concretely, the Dolce & Gabbana Future Rewind Digital Design Competition invites participants to design between 5 and 20 100% dematerialized looks. With one constant, that of incorporating some of the emblematic codes of the house. Among them, the color Mediterranean blue, leopard or zebra prints, black lace, the reinterpretation of the traditional Venice Carretto or the DG logo.

The finalists will be able to present their silhouettes on Decentraland, the scene of Metaverse Fashion Week, while a jury chaired by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and supported by the vote of members of the NFT DGFamily community will dedicate around fifteen pieces. These will compose a virtual collection which will be offered for sale on UNXD, definitively dubbing these creations of the type user generated content.

In 2021, Dolce & Gabbana and UNXD had already come together to launch Genesis collection, a series of clothes and accessories presented in the form of NFTs. This project, supplemented by other advantages – including access to events organized by the brand – had brought in $5.65 million while, according to a study, the various NFTs initiatives of Dolce & Gabbana would have allowed the label to garner nearly $26 million.

Registration for the Future Rewind Digital Design Competition is open until March 12, on the dedicated page.
