What a horror! Two aggressive dogs attacked and mauled an Amazon delivery man in Missouri (USA). The man was found dead by police at a property. Dog attacks are the third leading cause of injury for Amazon suppliers, but fatalities are very rare.
Man is dead in the front yard
The man, in his 50s, was delivering packages near Kansas City on Monday when he was attacked and believed to have been killed by two dogs. Officers later found his lifeless body in the dog owners’ front yard. Bite marks are all over his body, according to Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers.
What exactly happened at the property is not clear. The neighbors notice that an Amazon delivery truck has been parked in front of the house for two hours with full lights on. They become suspicious and call the police. When the emergency services arrive, a horrible picture is revealed to them: the delivery man is lying in the front yard, the dogs are running around his lifeless body.
Dog owners are away
The crime scene is surrounded by a fence. “Beware of Dogs” is on signs. Since the police cannot scare away the aggressive dogs and one of the dogs wants to attack them, they shoot it. The animals escape into the house through a dog flap. The officers follow the trail of blood and find the dogs in the house. They continue to be very aggressive and the officers have no chance but to shoot them. The two animals are said to have been a German Shepherd and an English Mastiff.
Whether the dogs really killed the man is now being investigated. The sheriff told the Washington Post: “The loss of a human life is obviously the most important thing. It’s horrible to see. […] It’s heartbreaking.”
The dogs’ owners were out of town on the night of the crime. So far, no criminal charges have been filed once morest them. However, they can still be charged if it turns out that one of their dogs attacked the man. (mde)
