Does your child have an IQ below 86? No reimbursement for speech therapy care!

The Inami does not reimburse speech therapy care for children whose IQ is too low.

People whose intelligence quotient is less than 86 cannot benefit from the reimbursement of speech therapy costs, unlike those whose IQ is higher than this number. This situation “discriminating” has been denounced for several years by many associations. “Everyone in the health sector agrees that this regulation must be changed, but the political world does not follow”despairs Cinzia Agoni, spokesperson for GAMP, the Group for the defense of highly dependent disabled people.

The GAMP hoped that the new Federal Disability Action Plan (PAFH) would tackle this problem. “Unfortunately, none of our priority demands concerning people with severe disabilities have been clearly proposed”deplores the association, pointing to the reimbursement of speech therapy costs for children with autism and intellectual disabilities.
