The alderwoman (Ecolo) of Public Cleanliness, Zoubida Jellab, kicks into touch. She has no control over recruitment in her department. She can formulate requests for commitments according to the needs expressed, but then the rest depends on the alderman in charge of human resources, Faouzia Hariche (PS).
Which denies any discriminatory practice tending to favor the inhabitants of the City of Brussels. “Workers with ALE status can apply for a job with the City of Brussels if they have been assessed positively, subject to an interview with the head of department. The difficulty sometimes consists in being able to assess them when they only perform one day a week. Then, during each recruitment, there are many more candidates than there are vacancies. And we hire the best”, specifies the alderwoman. Faouzia Hariche adds: “many contract agents don’t live in the city, you just have to ask them”.
Why then do the sweepers we met all talk regarding the priority given to the inhabitants of the City? What interest would they have in lying? And, if the cleaning department is not satisfied with their services or does not want to hire them, why not tell them clearly?
Conversely, why would the City lead, without hiding too much, a recruitment policy that it knows to be illegal, since each person hired is obviously free to move to another municipality once their contract has been signed?
