The National Committee for Medical, Pharmacy, and Dentistry Students called for a continued boycott of exams, and to implement a national campaign next Saturday, entitled “Morocco’s Youth and Its Executives for a Better Human Rights and Health Situation.”

The committee stated in a statement, in response to the measures proposed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation to defuse the crisis, that “the renewed programming of exams in a unilateral manner is a new attempt to undermine the current mediation with the Kingdom Mediator Institution, and its fate will be the same as previous sessions.”

Regarding the dispersal of the students’ sit-in in Rabat last week, the National Committee confirmed that it followed “with sadness and concern the tragic events that took place in the capital, Rabat, on the night of Black Wednesday, from violent security intervention and physical suppression of medical students during their peaceful sit-in near the college – whose walls were closed and its surroundings cordoned off – in defense of their legitimate demands.” “.

The same committee stressed the acquittal of “all those accused of the false charges attributed to them,” stressing that “the judicial prosecutions and charges in which a large number of students and internal doctors were victims are a step that constitutes a dangerous turning point in the history of peaceful student demands struggles, especially in this long-lasting crisis.” .

The same student body called on the “wise men of the nation” to intervene urgently to resolve the long-standing crisis, return the students to their classrooms and training, and save what remains of the medical training.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation had confirmed its intention to take 7 measures in order to restore the normal functioning of the Department of Medicine in the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy, including “enabling students who passed the first semester exams in the September 5, 2024 session to complete the second semester exams during a special special session starting From October 4th of this year,” in addition to “enabling students who will pass the exams for the first time to pass the second semester exams during the special special session programmed starting from October 4th of this month, and to pass the first semester exams during another special special session whose programming will be announced by the colleges later.”

The Ministry recorded in a statement “compensating the zero point with the points obtained in the examinations of the special courses for students who will pass these examinations,” and “circulating the results of the examinations in order to register in the following years, taking into account the points obtained in the regular and special courses without taking into account the condition of fulfillment.” The training will be programmed later, while adhering to its full schedule and the conditions for passing and completing it.

In a related context, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation confirmed its readiness to “provide the necessary additional explanations to students about the new pedagogical organization of medical training, by holding expanded meetings of the pedagogical committees emanating from college councils, with extensive student participation, as well as answering their questions and listening to their proposals in the field.” Concerning procedural measures and their application on the ground, to ensure the quality of training.”
