London: The family of a 25-year-old man suffering from brain tumor has complained that the doctor gave a wrong diagnosis. It is alleged that the doctor who examined the CT scan report dismissed it as a computer error. Appendicitis was diagnosed as the young man’s disease and surgery was performed. The New York Post reported the incident in the UK.

A 25-year-old man named Josh Warner, who worked as a carpenter, came to Darent Valley Hospital last June following experiencing severe headaches and dizziness. It is alleged that the doctor who took the CT scan diagnosed him with appendicitis. The family also alleges that he underwent surgery to remove his appendix even though he had no abdominal pain or other symptoms. He returned home following surgery and returned to the hospital hours later with the same symptoms. Family members say another CT scan revealed problems with the brain, but the young man was discharged saying it was a computer error. He said that it was showing like this because of a problem with the scan machine.

After coming home, he went to the hospital several times and was sent back by the doctor. Finally one day following collapsing in the bathroom, he was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and re-scanned. Still got the same report as the earlier scan report. The scan showed a large tumor that spread from the right side of the brain to the back and brain stem. Biopsy was done on 5th September. A malignant midline glioma is a cancer that spreads very quickly when it results.

He succumbed to his death on the twelfth day following the diagnosis, although the doctors gave him only three months to live. His family members have now released his treatment experience to raise awareness regarding the serious illness. They say they want no one to have to ignore symptoms or be misdiagnosed once more.

Efforts were started online to collect funds for the treatment of the young man. But the current decision is to spend this money on his son. According to the report, the family is preparing to file a complaint once morest the hospital alleging misdiagnosis. A hospital spokesperson and NHS officials said the incident was being investigated.
