Doctors in private practice are demanding: work on construction sites for e-prescriptions!

Some changes in the introduction of the e-prescription result in situations that are not suitable for everyday use and are frustrating. ÖÄK Vice President Wutscher calls for a quick remedy.

Vienna (OTS) – Since the beginning of July, the “emergency solution” e-medication has no longer been used for contactless prescriptions, but the e-prescription. “However, during this conversion, some construction sites arose that urgently need to be dealt with,” demands Edgar Wutscher, Vice President of the Austrian Medical Association and Federal Curia Chairman of the resident doctors. “Each prescription can easily be placed on the e-prescription server by the doctor’s office. However, many pharmacies do not manage to redeem the e-prescription,” says Wutscher.

Top officials from the Chamber of Pharmacists have also criticized the new process as being too cumbersome. “It is therefore essential that the pharmacies carry out the long overdue upgrade to read in the e-prescription,” demands Wutscher. Then every patient can pick up his medication without any problems. But here, too, it shows again that the best solution would of course still be to give the medication directly to the doctor. “Politicians are called upon to finally show courage and enable a patient-friendly system. That would be a very simple step towards uncomplicated and service-oriented patient care,” says Wutscher.
