Satechi launched yesterday the Triple 4K Display Docking Stationstation that has no less than 12 ports and allows you to connect up to 3 monitors in extended mode in 4K resolution at 60Hz on the computer host.
Appointed by the company as a “one stop shop for all needs”, the product has two DisplayPort 1.4 ports and no less than three HDMI 2.0 ports — which can be used to make the connection between the computer and the monitors.
Compatible with macOS and Windows, the docking station it’s a good way to “bypass” the limitation of MacBooks with the M1 and M2 input chips, which allow connection to only one external monitor natively.
Also featuring an Ethernet port (up to 1Gbps), the station also has three USB-A 3.0 ports (5Gbps), a USB 3.1 (Gen 2) and a USB-C 3.1 (10Gbps).
One of the differentials of this accessory is that it comes with a 130W source to power it — and is capable of passing 100W to the host computer, recharging even a 16″ MacBook Pro.
Another interesting detail concerns the arrangement of the ports, which tends to avoid a mess of wires. While those dedicated to monitors are on one side, the charging ports are on the other — with the connection to the computer host being at one end.
