Incident that sparked outrage
It is noteworthy that the events of the “Zarqa Boy” case date back to October of 2020, when several people kidnapped a child from the city of Al-Hashemiah, took him to an empty area in the east of Zarqa Governorate, then beat him and amputated his hands, gouge out one of his eyes, and hurt him. Then they left him in an uninhabited area, 7 km away from the nearest hospital.
Until the Court of Cassation, the highest judicial court in Jordan, decided last June 2021 to hang 6 defendants in the case, in addition to other sentences of temporary hard labor for others, one of whom is 10 years, and the last 15 years.
This painful incident sparked outrage in Jordan during the last period, amid calls for the perpetrators to be punished severely.
