Do you need to renew your ENERGY contract? Rather do it now than in January

The price of new energy contracts fell by 20% in November compared to October, according to the figures for the monthly evolution of energy prices from the Commission for the Regulation of Electricity and Gas (Creg) cited by L’Echo on Tuesday.

For an energy contract taken out in October, it was necessary to pay an average of 5,989 euros per year, of which 3,564 euros only for gas. In November, this amount increased to 4,817.56 euros on average per year, the organization arguing that the average annual price of new gas contracts was 2,814.96 euros and that of electricity 2,002.6 euros.

This decrease in prices comes from the repercussion of the drop in gas prices that we have been witnessing in recent weeks, with variable contracts taking the previous month or quarter as a reference. If this trend is confirmed for contracts taken out in December, prices should increase once more in January 2023, with the price of gas rising slightly at the start of December, driven by winter temperatures.
