Do you also want a blue tick on your Twitter account?

If you want to be a ‘special person’ in the world of social media, then the good news is that Twitter has announced the resumption of blue ticking of accounts for regular users.

Twitter has announced that it is relaunching its verification system in 2021 and will take public feedback into account.

Under the new policy, Twitter will initially verify 6 types of accounts, including government officials, companies, brands, non-profit organizations, news, entertainment, sports and social organizations and other influential figures.

According to the company, these categories will be expanded over time.

Twitter’s BlueTick is meant to authenticate public figures’ accounts, but the process was halted for the general public in 2017, when the company struggled with how to tell people they were verified. What does mean

In 2018, Twitter announced an overhaul of the verification system, which lengthened the process of acquiring Bluetooth, but that too did not prove to be effective.

This year, Twitter verified the accounts of medical professionals, but this was limited to Covid-19.

Now the company has decided to make this facility available to everyone and has shared a draft of the new policy, which will seek public feedback.

The policy details more emphasis on which accounts will be verified and why some accounts will not be part of the process.

For example, Twitter says that the account must be prominent and active, while individuals whose profiles are not complete will not be considered.

Accounts that repeatedly violate the site’s rules will also not be verified by Twitter.

The company has also admitted that it has verified accounts over the years that shouldn’t have been done and will now begin removing Bluetooth from incomplete profiles or inactive accounts.

The company has also given the details that will help the user to know how the account of a category will be determined.

For example, media organizations have to follow the principles of journalism while independent or freelance journalists have to provide 3 articles published in the last 6 months in a reputable organization.

The public will be able to comment on this new policy from November 24 to December 8, 2020.

After December 8, Twitter will train its team on the new policy and the final policy will be introduced on December 17, while the application process for the verification system will begin in early 2021.
