Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Ministry of Health has warned health institutions to prevent the detention of bodies and patients, as well as identification papers, due to financial claims.

Riyadh Health Affairs confirmed that Article 30 of the private health institutions system and its implementing regulations affirm that handing over dead bodies or the discharge of patients or newborns is a right for the person himself, his guardian, or the relatives of the deceased, and is not conditioned by any financial procedure.

And she stressed that health institutions do not have the right to oblige the patient or the relatives of the deceased to sign financial bonds in exchange for financial claims, or to keep the bodies of the deceased and identification papers, and to detain patients and not allow them to leave.

The Ministry called on everyone to report these violating practices by calling “937”.
