C‘East Litter who announced it on Saturday: a new lead has been proposed by the Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (FANC) to guarantee security of supply during the winters of 2025/2026 and 2026/2027, namely not to shut down Doel 4 and Tihange 3 before their extension and therefore carry out the necessary work without shutting down the reactors. This idea had already been put forward before being rejected for safety problems because the work required for an extension requires the reactors to be shut down. To circumvent this obstacle, the work would be carried out during maintenance periods (during which the reactor is shut down), the other tasks then being spread over time. All that remains is to convince Engie, which must now list the studies and work necessary to carry out this track and present them to the FANC. However, Engie has already shown its reluctance.
