Follow up – Ali Mualla:
An American study revealed that women who had a spontaneous abortion were 19 percent more likely to die prematurely.
The magazine “The BMJ” stated that the researchers reached this conclusion, following studying medical follow-up data for one hundred thousand American women during the years 1993-2017, and compared the factors that can affect health, including nutrition and lifestyle.
The researchers found that women who had repeated spontaneous abortions, as well as women who had spontaneous abortions at the beginning of pregnancy, were more likely to die prematurely.
They emphasized that the relationship between spontaneous abortion and premature death was clearly evident in cases of death due to cardiovascular diseases, which amounted to 48 percent.
The researchers noted that these results show that spontaneous abortion can be an early risk sign for women’s health, including premature death.
The experts said: “Additional studies should be conducted, in order to determine how spontaneous abortion affects women’s long-term health and the underlying mechanisms of this relationship.”
