Users say the update compromises performance by disabling essential functions of several AMD APUs and iGPUs. In some cases they are limited to 800MHz, preventing them from going into high performance mode, compromising the experience during games and heavy tasks.
Furthermore, PC users are also reporting problems such as the dreaded Blue Screen of Death and memory management errors, which makes the situation even more complex.
The above report says the following:
I just installed the latest Windows updates on my Ally and noticed that my performance was absolutely terrible following the update. For example, playing WoW was absolutely perfect, and now it’s completely horrible at 30-40FPS and choppy/unplayable.
The owner of the ROG Ally above says that the portable console suffered from the problem following installing the Windows 11 update KB5035853, which compromised the device’s graphics drivers.
Microsoft and AMD have not yet commented on the problems, but some users have noticed improvements on the ROG Ally following carrying out the following procedure:
- Open Settings;
- Go to Applications > Installed applications > AMD Software;
- Tap on the 3-dot menu and click on Repair;
- In the configuration dialog box, choose the Reset option;
- After reinstalling the drivers from scratch, restart your ROG Ally.
If you have installed the update and notice any problems, you can uninstall it by following these steps:
- Open Settings;
- Clique em Windows Update;
- Click on Update history and scroll to the bottom of the page;
- Select Uninstall updates;
- Choose version KB5035853, click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
After uninstalling the update you may need to reset or reinstall the drivers to fix the problem. Just follow the steps for the ROG Ally or download the drivers once more from the official AMD website at the link below:
