Xanten sport shooters write history at DM
Xanten Young shooters from St. Helena came second in Munich in the discipline of small bore prone. Franziska Driessen, Hannah Wehren, Laura Braun and Anna-Lena Kropmann impressed with above-average performances.
Franziska Driessen, Hannah Wehren and Anna-Lena Kropmann ensured one of the greatest successes in the history of the St. Helena club at the German Shooting Championships at the 1972 Olympic shooting range in Munich-Hochbrück. As a team, they won the silver medal in the small caliber (KK) prone discipline. The trio started with Laura Braun at the DM in the junior classes in different compositions – for the SSG Kevelaer and St. Helena marksmen Xanten.
Driessen, Wehren and Kropmann consistently used their good technique in small caliber shooting prone. In the entire competition with 60 shots, the three scored a good series of 102 to 104.3 points. They were always in the top 10. Wehren finished fourth in the singles (619.8). Kropmann was fifth (617.5) and Driessen seventh (617.1). As a team they came up with 1854.4 points. Great was the jubilation regarding the DM silver rank.
They also aimed for the targets for the Xanten Club in the KK 3-positions discipline, the follow-up competition to the supreme discipline KK 3×40 shots. In the junior class I, Kropmann reached 18th place with 570 points. Driessen entered the final, where she was fifth with 348.0 points. In the junior class II, Braun came in 26th place. Wehren showed their skills in all three attacks and was always in the top group. She scored 195 points kneeling, 196 points lying down and once more 195 points standing. With this yield, Wehren might look forward to the silver medal at the end of the competition. In the team ranking, Wehren, Kropmann and Driessen just missed bronze with 1735 points.
Wehren won silver in the singles (579) in the discipline KK 3×20 shots for the SSG Kevelaer. Driessen was fifth (583), Kropmann 28th (563), Braun 35th (555). With the air rifle (LG), Braun, Driessen and Wehren shot their way to the German championship title as a team and even improved the national record with 1874 points.
Franzi Driessen was also appointed to the mixed team of the Rheinischer Schützenbund by the state coach. With Benedikt Mockenhaupt from SV Knowledge, she won the bronze medal with 429.7 points. Karla Langendonk (women III) from the Xanten sport marksmen took the line of fire in the LG discipline. The national champion came in 56th (385.7).
