The Honorary Council for Election Organizers (DKPP) has not yet scheduled a trial regarding allegations of immorality involving the Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy’ari. DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito said that his party was still carrying out administrative and material verification of the complaint made by one of the overseas election committee (PPLN) officers last Thursday (18/4).
“Currently, administrative and material verification is still being carried out, a trial has not been scheduled. Everything is still in process,” said Heddy in a written statement, Tuesday (23/4).
He argued that the reason a hearing on the complaint had not been scheduled was because the DKPP had received complaints from up to 200 cases over the last four months. Of that number, Heddy said that only 91 cases had trials scheduled.
The victim’s attorney from the Legal Aid Consultation Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-FHUI), Aristo Pangaribuan, said that his party had communicated with DKPP so that his client’s complaint could be processed quickly so that it could be heard immediately. He also asked DKPP to hold a closed hearing later.
Previously, Aristo explained that the beginning of Hasyim’s relationship with his client began in August 2023 when the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asyari, paid a visit to work abroad. According to him, Hasyim always took advantage of work moments to approach the victim who confirmed the existence of a power relationship, so that the victim felt uncomfortable and finally resigned after March 2024.
According to Aristo, Hasyim’s typology of violations of the code of ethics for election organizers is similar to the previous complaint to the DKPP last year by the Chair of the Republic One Party, namely Hasnaeni or who is often called the Golden Woman.
“As for Hasnaeni, she is the general chairman of the party, she has interests. Our client is a woman, a PPLN officer, she doesn’t have any interests, she feels she is a victim of her power relations. Because this is her boss, the Chairman of the KPU,” he explained.
