The Honorary Council for Election Organizers (DKPP) ensures that it acts independently in investigating cases of alleged immorality by the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asyari. DKPP will try fairly.
“So far, DKPP has worked independently,” said DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito, at the FGD event for the Publication of the Trial of Alleged Violations of the Code of Ethics for Election Organizers, on Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (8/5).
Heddy emphasized that DKPP never decides a case without being objective. He asked the public not to be prejudiced.
“I’m open to criticism, friends (journalists) don’t suudzon first. Khusnudzon is better,” he explained.
Apart from that, Heddy is reluctant to speculate about the sanctions that Hasyim will receive. Even though Hasyim has been involved in ethics cases many times.
“You have to protect it and also respect it. In terms of criminal law, it is called the presumption of innocence, but this is not a crime, yes, it must also be protected, each individual’s dignity is protected,” he explained.

Furthermore, Heddy cannot confirm when the trial will be held. He only targets that the trial of the immorality case reported by a female foreign election committee (PPLN) officer will be held at the end of May.
“We will have a trial at the end of May. We haven’t confirmed the date yet, we have scheduled it not until after May, in two to three weeks,” he stressed.
Previously, the victim’s attorney from the Legal Aid Consultation Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-FHUI), Aristo Pangaribuan, explained the beginning of Hasyim’s relationship with his client. Starting in August 2023 when Hasyim made an official visit abroad.

According to him, Hasyim always took advantage of work moments to approach victims which confirmed the existence of a power relationship. So the victim felt uncomfortable and finally resigned after March 2024.
According to Aristo, Hasyim’s typology of violations of the code of ethics for election organizers is similar to the previous complaint to the DKPP last year by the Chair of the Republic One Party, namely Hasnaeni or who is often called the Golden Woman.
“As for Hasnaeni, she is the general chairman of the party, has interests. This is our client, a woman, a PPLN officer,” he explained. (Medcom/Z-6)
