The DKI Jakarta KPU stated that based on the results of factual verification in the field, it showed that the support from the son of former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan for the individual candidates, Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana, did not meet the requirements.

“The KPU is the recipient, questions about the source of the KTP data and so on can be asked to the candidate pairs,” said Head of the Technical Division of the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) Dody Wijaya in Jakarta today.

According to him, Anies Baswedan’s son’s support for the independent or individual candidate passed the administrative selection stage. This is in accordance with the data provided by the independent candidate.

However, Dody said, after factual verification was carried out, it turned out that the support from the son of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta did not meet the requirements because he did not support the independent candidate.

“During factual verification, the status becomes ineligible. This means that the process is running in the field with the existing regulatory mechanism,” he said.

Dody added that the DKI Jakarta KPU is the recipient of data from individual candidates so that when the data is entered and verified, it will be accepted and that is also a long process.

“We only conduct administrative and factual verification. Administratively, as long as there is an ID card, there is a statement of support, then it meets the requirements. If not, then of course it does not meet the requirements,” he said.

On Friday (16/8) Anies Baswedan stated via his official social media account that the ID cards of his two children, younger sibling and some of his team were used to support the independent candidate pair in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

“Thank God, my ID card is safe. But the ID cards of my two children, my younger sibling, and some of the team who worked together were also included in the list of supporters of independent candidates,” said Anies.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta KPU had held a plenary meeting regarding the second factual verification for independent or individual candidates. The results showed that independent candidates met the requirements with the number of supports of 677,468 people. (Ant/P-2)
