The organizers of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the season, will not punish Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic for his message about Kosovo. This was reported to the Mirror by the French Tennis Federation (FTT).

Djokovic called Kosovo the heart of Serbia at Roland Garros

Djokovic, after winning the first round of Roland Garros over American Alexander Kovacevic (6:3, 6:2, 7:6 (7:1)) left a message on the video camera screen calling for an end to the violence in Kosovo. “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia. Stop the violence,” the Serb wrote.

At the post-match press conference, Djokovic said that he was not a politician and was not going to get involved in political disputes.

The aggravation of the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo began after mayors of several cities in the northern municipalities took office in Kosovo on May 26. The Kosovo Albanians won the municipal elections in April as the Serbs boycotted the vote. After that in the region protests started, which escalated into clashes between members of the Kosovo special forces and the Serbs. Serbia led the army in full combat readiness.
