NBA – Undrafted in 2021, DJ Steward spent the first two seasons of his career in the G-League, and will then try in Boston to finally find a place in a Great League workforce.
With finances in the red (payroll of 176.7 million dollars) but still two guaranteed positions and a “ two-way contract to distribute, Celtics look to raisers to assess their options.
In this case, to DJ Stewardthe young leader passed by Duke during the 2020/21 season (13 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals), before coming up short in the 2021 Draft. Since then, the Illinois native has been playing in the G-League , on the side of the Stockton Kings where he is doing quite well (13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists), and has therefore still not had the opportunity to play in the NBA, two years following his move to the level professional.
He will try to remedy this at the start of the school year in Boston
where he will participate in the training camp, ESPN announcement. The goal? Convince Celtics management to offer him the club’s third and final two-way contract.
Two-way contract : designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, to develop them mainly in their development league franchise affiliate but also up to 50 NBA games.
