On Twitter, DJ Khaled paid tribute to the victims of the shooting which took place in a school in Uvalde, Texas, causing the death of 19 dead and 2 adults.

Once once more, the United States has been shaken by a new tragedy, which took place this Tuesday, May 24, in an elementary school in the small town of Uvalde, Texas, located regarding 130 kilometers west of San Antonio. Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old young man, opened fire in the establishment before being shot dead by the police. In the meantime, the assailant has killed 19 children – while injuring more than a dozen – and 2 adults, a terrible toll that plunges the country into an endless debate around the free sale of arms. Obviously, this tragedy provoked an immense wave of tributes, followed by new protests once morest the possession of arms and the consequences of this freedom. It must be said that this kind of case is almost daily across the Atlantic. Less than 2 weeks ago, a man opened fire in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, killing 10 African Americans. Height of horror, the shooter, Payton Gendron, 18, broadcast his actions live on Twitch.

DJ Khaled’s call

Following this shooting, DJ Khaled also wanted to speak before paying tribute to the victims to support their families. Like many, he wants children to be safe, both at school and anywhere: “We must protect children at all costs. Youth should be safe in school and everywhere. We need to come together to make sure our children are safe. I send my prayers to children and families in Texas”. A touching message but which, unfortunately, is not likely to make things happen, as the arms lobby in the United States, represented by the NRA, is so powerful in the United States…
