Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Do you dare to dive alongside the largest whales in the world?

The Saudi adventurer, Yazid Al-Darini, encountered sperm whales during his first diving experience in the Indian Ocean.

In an interview with CNN in Arabic, Al-Derini explained that he was on an exploration trip in Mauritius, when he came across sperm whales.

“I wanted to prove the fact that this type of marine organism is peaceful and does not attack humans,” he said.

And the Saudi adventurer described the view of the amber whale fish up close as a dream, noting that diving near an object of this size and strength is an incredible matter. (Watch the video clip above)

And soon, a whole family of sperm whales appeared in front of the Drini, that is, a male, a female, and their young.

Al-Duraini indicated that it was a unique experience, permeated with feelings of dread and excitement.

According to the US Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website, sperm whales are listed as an endangered species.

Sperm whales take their name from a waxy substance called “amber”, which is a type of animal fat extracted from the head cavities of sperm whales, and helps them focus the sound.

Although they are not among the largest species of whales, sperm whales have the largest brain on the planet, and they can dive deeper than almost any other marine creature, according to the International Whaling Agency website.

As expected, during his documentation of this exciting meeting, Al-Duraini faced a number of challenges such as the blowing winds and the crashing waves in the Indian Ocean.

Al-Duraini managed to control his fears by diving to a place as deep as the Indian Ocean, as well as diving with one of the largest creatures on the planet.

The videos that the Saudi adventurer shared on his social media platforms generated widespread interaction, pointing out that he had received many comments regarding how he was not attacked by whales.

Al-Derini confirmed: “This was the purpose of documenting my experience, i.e. letting people know that sperm whales are peaceful, and do not initiate an attack unless they feel threatened.”
