Whatever the economic situation, there are investment funds adapted to make the most of it. This special issue devoted to these financial instruments shows that the power of their number and their diversity offers investors promising prospects.

In an environment of low interest rates, indirect real estate has established itself as an essential asset class in portfolios, in particular for Swiss pension funds. But the sudden rise in interest rates has reshuffled the cards. This asset class has lost appeal compared to the bond market, which has made a comeback with investors. Credit Suisse, recently acquired by UBS, announced on Thursday that it had suspended the IPO project of one of its real estate funds due to an unfavorable market environment.

However, real estate remains an interesting investment with a view to diversification and as protection once morest inflation, tempers Philippe Gabella, head of indirect real estate management at the Banque cantonale vaudoise (BCV). While the transparency of funds in terms of sustainability has improved, there is still a lot to be done, observes the specialist. The question of the valuation of green real estate is still the subject of research. Common standards for real estate funds should emerge in the coming years.
