The public prosecutor (JPU) submitted a request to transfer the place of detention for the defendant in the illegal firearms possession case, Dito Mahendra, to the Gunung Sindur Correctional Institution (Lapas), Bogor, West Java. This request was submitted during a trial hearing expert testimony at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) on Thursday (7/3)

Dito Ahrur Dalimunthe’s legal team expressed their objection to the prosecutor’s request. “Yes, yesterday at the trial the prosecutor said he would submit a request to transfer Dito to Mount Sindur. We expressed our objection at the trial,” said Pahrur.

Pahrur said that the authority to detain Dito Mahendra is currently under the decision of the panel of judges. Meanwhile, the panel of judges has determined that the defendant Dito will continue to be detained at the Salemba Detention Center, branch of the Attorney General’s Office.

“Everywhere the detention is close to the trial venue. So we object,” he stressed

Pahrur explained several reasons for rejecting or objecting to his client’s request to transfer detention. First, the prosecutor’s request was seen as if he had punished Dito before being sentenced by the panel of judges.

“The prison (Gunung Sindur) is not a detention center. The prison should have already been executed, it hasn’t been completed yet. Third, the prison is known as a terrorist prison. He (Dito) is not a terrorist, and fourth, that’s a long way off,” he said.

Pahrur also questioned the prosecutor’s reasons for submitting the request to transfer Dito’s detention. In fact, he said, detention must be close to the trial location. It is believed that Dito’s transfer will lengthen his journey to undergo trial at the South Jakarta District Court.

“Well, this trial is always in the morning, what time do you want to leave for Gunung Sindur? The prosecutors are also from the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, they go from the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office to Gunung Sindur every trial? Pick them up and then take them back, isn’t it strange that it adds work,” he said.

Pahrur said the panel of judges firmly stated that the defendant Dito Mahendra remained detained at the Salemba Detention Center, branch of the Attorney General’s Office. This is because the panel of judges has not officially received the application.

Pahrur said the panel of judges firmly stated that the defendant Dito Mahendra remained detained at the Salemba Detention Center, branch of the Attorney General’s Office. This is because the panel of judges has not officially received the application.

“The judge said, we haven’t received his application. If we haven’t, there’s no need for us to discuss it. What is certain is that up to now we have determined that he remains in the Attorney General’s Detention Center,” said Pahrur, imitating the judge’s statement.

Moreover, said Pahrur, the trial process has almost entered the prosecution agenda. Dito’s transfer to Gunung Sindur Prison is considered to raise questions and is irrelevant.

“Well, that’s it, it’s regarding to end (the verdict). It’s regarding to end, at least a few more trials. This is our expert witness, following that the prosecution. So it won’t be long, maybe by the time this fast will be broken. So it’s not relevant to move. “It’s really strange, we think that it might be punishment or criminalization of clients even though they are not necessarily guilty,” he concluded.

For your information, Dito Mahendra was named a suspect by the Directorate of General Crimes (Dittipidum) Bareskrim Polri for possessing a number of illegal firearms.
